Believe me, Kathy, I think the same way when I take a look at my works, that I need a lot of practice.
The materials are very important. I’ve never used these markers and probably I would’ve had exactly the same results as you do.
In case with watercoloring it’s typical to have unexpected streaks of color and so on. I just accept, that it’s fine and leave it as it is or mask with adding some texture. The point is to find some beauty in all these unexpected lines and blurs.

I struggle with controlling the water. I need to practice more. I was not upset with the blooms in the “sky” around the elephant.

It’s really hard to control it and you really shouldn’t be upset with anything, as you just let it go as it is. I want to practice creating some effects like this on purpose where I want them to be.
