I always color this house like it is some sort of stucco. Any other suggestions?

It’s such a cute card and while I’m good with the stucco feel it seems like you want to change it up. Take a look at a photograph of the “Painted Ladies” in San Francisco. This sort of has a similar feel and perhaps they might give you an idea about color.
