Paper and Ink Imaginings

Happy St. Patrick’s Day 2022

(as always, click on any image to enlarge)

My parents LOVE St. Patrick’s Day – I think the loud party aspect! My Dad does have some Irish heritage (at least 25%), my Mom has only a smidge (which she makes up for by her love of corned beef & cabbage!).

An Irish blessing:

May your troubles be less

and your blessings be more,

and nothing but happiness

come through your door.

Christmas Elves Card

I got up at 5:00 am on Wednesday to finish assembling my cards. A few (to the farthest away friends/family) went in the mail on Wednesday. Hoping to plow through the rest early Thursday morning.

Finished baking cookies late Wednesday afternoon. Just a batch of brownies to finish up.

Cleaning and cooking prep on Thursday.

My family will visit for afternoon savory snacks & cookies on Christmas Eve. We will visit the in-laws on Christmas Day.

SO…I wish you Happy Holidays, and may 2022 bring us all some cheer!

Fabric Christmas Tree Stars

One of my cousins wanted help recreating a fabric Christmas tree topper. I found a pattern for a paper star (3D), and used it to create a fabric star (using Pellon #808 craft fusible interfacing). I made the star on the right to test the concept, and the star on the left to refine my assembly skills (hot glue gun – nothing else will set up quick enough on fabric). These fabrics are leftover scraps from my mask sewing.

We finished the actual project last week with her vintage fabrics. We added a conical holder (taken off an inexpensive tree topper) with some sturdy floral wire to the bottom of the star so it will sit atop her Christmas tree.

New Year Card – Version 2

Well, really, it is really about version 37. I kept redesigning it.

They are in the mail – can’t change my mind again!

I PROMISE to make Christmas cards in July this year, so I don’t struggle in December and January for holiday cards again.

Pool Party, inks – Ranger Emboss It, VersaFine Clair Twilight, die – Spellbinders, embossing powders – Ranger Silver Pearl, Stampendous Detail Clear.

2021 New Year Card – Almost!

My Christmas cards morphed into New Years cards, and, ALAS, I am still not done. I was going to make two versions – this one, and a sarcastic one.

THEN, January 6th happened, and my sarcastic idea *might* look political (which it was not meant to be political at all, but I didn’t want anyone to misinterpret)?

No no no, can’t have that.

I do know what I will do for the other version, but have completed not a bit of it yet.

I have been in various levels of funk as well. Based on various things (some personal, some national news level), of which I have no control. (Why be in a funk if it is nothing that I have control over?? Try hard, it still happens!)

Somehow, Mother Nature has smiled upon us here in the Mid-Atlantic this week, and we have SUNSHINE.

Hoping you have sunshine on your corner of the internet as well.

Supplies: Stamps – Stampin’ Up!, paper – Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Desert Storm, PopTone Black Licorice, Stampin’ Up! Real Red, inks – VersaFine Onyx Black, VersaFine Clair Nocturne, ZIG Clean Color Real Brush Pens Carmine Red (022), Light Green (041), die – Lawn Fawn, embossing powder – Filigree Fine Art Powder clear.

Navy, Turquoise and Silver Snowflake Money Holder Card

I made a few holiday money holder cards this year, all the same design, just variation in the color scheme. I used the We R Memory Keepers envelope punch board to make envelopes out of holiday scrapbook paper. The cards are not being mailed, but presented in person.  I apologize for no photo of the envelope – the light was fading and I was rushing.

The finished size is 3 1/2 x 7 1/2 inches.

Supplies:  Stamps – A Muse Artstamps, Simon Says Stamp, paper – Curious Metallics Blueprint, Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Stampin’ Up! Tempting Turquoise (retired), ink – VersaMark, die – My Favorite Things, embossing powder – Stampin’ Up! Sterling Silver.

Polar Bear with Green Merry Christmas Card

This is the card I made for my parents to mail this year.

Are my cards done? Not even started! My annual calendar is printed & assembled – so I am ahead there.

Supplies:  Stamps – A Muse Art Stamps, My Favorite Things, paper – My Favorite Things Field Day, Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, PopTone Sour Apple, Stampin’ Up! Real Red, inks – Copic 100, B0000, C1, G03, R29, YG23, VersaFine Onyx Black, dies – Simon Says Stamp (banner strip), Spellbinders (square), embossing folder – Provo Craft, embossing powder – Filigree Fine Art Powder clear.

Trio of Tall Money Holding Cards

These were very last minute!

I started out thinking I would make a different size, and create my own envelopes. Alas, I did not have time to do that, I found some A10 envelopes (that were not security interior envelopes!) in my stash, and made the cards 3.75 x 9.25 inches. I glued a 4 inch pocket to the bottom of the interior to keep the money in place.

I probably will not post between now and the new year. Just too much going on.

Happy Holidays!  Merry Christmas!  Happy New Year!  May 2020 be full of love & light!

Kathy
