Mother’s Day cards flummoxed me this year. I made all 4 of the ones I needed as close to the deadline (mother-in-law cards require mailing, my mother I can hand deliver) as humanly possible. Finished these 2 Sunday morning.

Classy Copper.
Frantically trying to get Mother’s Day cards ready for my Mother and Mother-in-law. I didn’t pay attention to the calendar. YIKES! Mother’s Day is Sunday.
Here are the cards I created for my friends. The sentiment inside is Happy Mother’s Day.
Taking the photo for today, I thought, what if I get the table base into the photo? I love this table! Yeah, table base looks great, but the cards totally washed out!
The story behind the table – it was in my paternal grandmother’s house for all of my memory. She remarried when I was 2 or 3, and it belonged to her second husband (who was my grandfather not by blood but by love!). Asked about it years later, he told me his father worked at the docks in Baltimore, and, similar to the Boston Tea Party, some ships would ditch some products into the harbor waters to avoid taxes. A ship from Africa dumped some cargo, my great grandfather ended up with this hand carved table. It was originally covered with ebony paint, my grandfather had it stripped and stained.
Back in March, I purchased a set of Dr. Ph. Martin’s Hydrus liquid watercolors (half price sale).
I have finally gotten around to trying them. They are very concentrated, I only used a few drops of each color. Next time, I will try a bolder palette.
