In addition to Valentine’s Day cards, I am working on a random assortment of thank you cards. “Random” is the key word there – when I stall thinking too hard about Valentines & impending deadline, I can switch to the thank you collection for a quick burst of productivity.

For this background, I stamped Spanish Script in Shabby Shutters Distress ink first. After that dried completely, I stamped the foliage in VersaMark and heat embossed with clear embossing powder. Finally, I blended Shabby Shutters over the entire piece.

Offspring3 loves all things Dia de los Muertos. Luckily, Simon Says Stamp put out a stamp set/die combo at the very end of September. I snatched it up. LOVE IT. I took Spanish all through high school and a few semesters in college – I do not remember learning about Dia de los Muertos at all. Perhaps because all of my Spanish teachers/professors had studied in Spain, not Mexico or Central America?

Had a thought to watercolor the die cut stem silhouettes with my Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolors. Followed the lines of the paint chip (Sherwin Williams HGTV line) with two other scraps of paper. Layered over a piece of Heidi Swapp Favorite Things paper.
