I made time to visit my craft table and try to find some missing MOJO over the weekend. This card has been in pieces in my cabinet for at least 3 months (the baby wasn’t colored, nothing was assembled). Boy, do I feel rusty!
Let’s see, what else is going on?
Mid January, and I am tired of winter (mid-Atlantic up & down winter). I do love snow, but only if I have nowhere to drive until the roads are clear.
I am avoiding the gym right now – too many germs.
Adjusting to hearing aids. “WHAT???” I knew that I was missing things, didn’t know I was missing enough for hearing aids. The ones I have are comfortable – didn’t expect that (have watched my mother struggle with comfort in hearing aids for over 20 years). I have noticed if I am watching TV alone that I can reduce the volume. I am struggling with background noise and anything I have coming via Bluetooth from my phone (too loud and not easily adjustable). I miss having room behind my ears to tuck my hair. I am a work in progress.
I hope your January is going well!

I was inspired by THIS blog post by Jennifer McGuire to try inking an embossing folder before cranking it through my die cut machine.
My ink did not turn out as smooth as hers did – my brayer is old and not used much, maybe I need a new one. I was happy enough to make it into a card to be mailed off to a friend.
“Sparkly” is in the title because the blue paper is iridescent when you tilt it towards the light.

One of my cousins requested this birthday card. The key word was “hippy-ish”. This was my first idea – ink blend a rainbow background & die cut it into sunbeams.

I used this design for a Mother’s Day card. On cards like this, with lots of stamped images, I stamp an extra one along the way (knowing something inkily catastrophic may happen at the crafting table!). This time, nothing went wrong. I trimmed this one down and added an encouraging sentiment.
This has been a long week! Parenting the parents has been a little frustrating – I can laugh about it 10 minutes later, but that first 10 minutes is just HARD.

Gorgeous Grape, inks – Tim Holtz/Ranger Distress Oxide Abandoned Coral, Peacock Feathers, Squeezed Lemonade, Wilted Violet, VersaFine Onyx Black, sequins – Pretty Pink Posh, embossing powder – Filigree Fine Art Powder clear.
I ordered the 2nd set of snarky sentiments to go with this Essentials by Ellen Voices in My Head lady. And I had a day last week when I needed someone to send this card to ME. 😉
I struggle with the background for her. This time, I blended some Distress Oxide Ink over her (she was covered with masking paper).
In case you are wondering, the inspiration for the gray stripy hair is MY HAIR. I have been growing out my hair color (18 months now – still have some colored tips on one side – the longer side of the side part), and I now have brown & gray stripy hair. Not unattractive – I am glad I have muscled through the awkward stages with no emergency highlights or super short pixie and made it to the other side!

Another try at watercoloring with Distress Oxide inks. This time I stamped the image using 2 colors of ink (so they blend in the middle). And I was more careful with the water I applied to the flowers, most of the detail lines were preserved. There is a light splattering of sparkle (Wink of Stella) that is not visible in the photo.

Basic Black, inks – Hero Arts Unicorn, Tim Holtz/Ranger Distress Oxide inks Peacock Feathers, Picked Raspberry, Salty Ocean, ZIG Wink of Stella clear, embossing powder – Filigree Fine Art Powder white.
