“Hmmm,” I said to myself, “let’s try ink blending without using Picked Raspberry (pink)!”
Supplies: Stamp – Simon Say Stamp, paper – Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Stampin’ Up! Lovely Lilac (retired), Night of Navy, inks – Tim Holtz/Ranger Distress Inks Chipped Sapphire, Tumbled Glass, Wilted Violet, VersaFine Onyx Black, die – My Favorite Things, stencil – Heidi Swapp, flower punch – Fiskars, pearl jewel – EK Success Swarovski Elements, embossing powder – Filigree Fine Art Powder clear.
For this background, I was expanding my artistic horizons, trying to create a galaxy background similar to what Kristina Werner created in this blog post .
Sorry I didn’t think to take an “in progress” shot. I loosely watercolored the ZIG Clean Color marker colors and let them dry. They were much lighter than the colors in Kristina Werner’s card – I am much more timid with watercolors, and I struggle with too much water. After it was dry, I really struggled with putting the black paint over the colors! It sat on my counter for more than a week, then I added white paint spatters, and a few spatters of Wink of Stella (which turned out much larger than I wanted – too late!).
One of my friends became a grandmother recently, and she requested a card for her granddaughter’s baptism. The parameters were non-religious, lean towards nature, nursery colors of coral and teal.
Supplies: Stamps – JustRite, paper – Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Stampin’ Up! Bermuda Bay, Calypso Coral, Pear Pizzazz, Shimmery White, ink – VersaFine Onyx Black, dies – Hero Arts (foliage), Lawn Fawn (stitched hillsides), Spellbinders (circles), flower punches – Fiskars, jewels – EK Success Swarovski Elements, embossing powder – Ranger Silver Pearl, organdy ribbon – Offray.
A very literal interpretation, but it turned out beautiful. I fussy cut the carnation, used second generation stamping on the leaves and die cut those. I added a few Swarovski Aurora Borealis crystals, and they really pop in person (so hard to photograph).
Thanks for stopping by!
Supplies: Stamps – Clearly Besotted, Hero Arts, Papertrey Ink, paper – Canson watercolor, Papertrey Ink Vintage Cream, inks – Stampin’ Up! Green Galore (retired), Smokey Slate, VersaFine Onyx Black, watercolor – Sakura Koi, dies – Hero Arts, jewels – EK Success Swarovski Elements, embossing powder – Filigree Fine Art Powder clear.
I used the poinsettia image from the Mistletoe and Holly set to create a background in VersaFine Crimson Red and Satin Red (both embossed with clear embossing powder). I used the “day” part of “oh happy day” (Bold Blooms) and the “wishing you a wonderful” part of “wishing you a wonderful holiday season” (Mistletoe and Holly).
I am content with the final product – I think it would make a lovely card for a December birthday or wedding shower. Or even a nice Valentine, if the recipient is not fluent in floral classification.

I had made a similar snowflake background for the Ellen Hutson 12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist Challenge a few weeks ago. I love feminine snowflake cards, and thought it would make a lovely winter birthday card.

I assembled this card from leftover pieces. The circle was leftover from the October 2015 Papertrey Ink Blog Hop (see it here). I added an ornament hanger, a sentiment and some ribbon.
I am signing this card (and a few others), and mailing it off to the Caring Hearts Card Drive. This card drive distributes cards to nursing homes during the holidays.
