Watercolored Galaxy Background Encouragement Card

watercolor galaxy be confident

For this background, I was expanding my artistic horizons, trying to create a galaxy background similar to what Kristina Werner created in this blog post .

Sorry I didn’t think to take an “in progress” shot. I loosely watercolored the ZIG Clean Color marker colors and let them dry. They were much lighter than the colors in Kristina Werner’s card – I am much more timid with watercolors, and I struggle with too much water. After it was dry, I really struggled with putting the black paint over the colors! It sat on my counter for more than a week, then I added white paint spatters, and a few spatters of Wink of Stella (which turned out much larger than I wanted – too late!).

This sentiment is another PERFECT one from the Simon Says Stamp Uplifting Thoughts set.

It is very pretty in person, and I had to add the Aurora Borealis Swarovski jewels to my galaxy because they fit the theme.

Supplies: Stamp – Simon Says Stamp, paper – Arches watercolor, Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Papertrey Ink Royal Velvet, ink – Stampin’ Up! Basic Gray, VersaFine Onyx Black, Wink of Stella clear, die – My Favorite Things (pierced rectangle), watercolors – ZIG Clean Color Real Brush Markers Blue (30), Cobalt Blue (31), Light Green (41), Light Violet (81), Orange (70), Pink (25), Yellow (50), Kuretake Gansai Tambi #10 (white), 20 (black), jewels – EK Success Swarovski Elements Aurora Borealis, embossing powder – Ranger Liquid Platinum.

Mother’s Day Card – PTI Make it Monday #245 Color Isolation

pti make it monday 245 mothers day

I have been unsuccessfully chasing (not catching) my mojo for over a week. SIGH.

This morning, I saw the current Papertrey Ink Make it Monday #245 Color Isolation challenge, and poor mojo peeked out from under the couch. I can do this.

A very literal interpretation, but it turned out beautiful. I fussy cut the carnation, used second generation stamping on the leaves and die cut those. I added a few Swarovski Aurora Borealis crystals, and they really pop in person (so hard to photograph).

Thanks for stopping by!

Supplies: Stamps – Clearly Besotted, Hero Arts, Papertrey Ink, paper – Canson watercolor, Papertrey Ink Vintage Cream, inks – Stampin’ Up! Green Galore (retired), Smokey Slate, VersaFine Onyx Black, watercolor – Sakura Koi, dies – Hero Arts, jewels – EK Success Swarovski Elements, embossing powder – Filigree Fine Art Powder clear.

Wonderful Day Card – Essentials by Ellen January 2106 Pinsights Challenge

e by e jan 2016 pinsights wonderful day poinsettias

This month’s Essentials by Ellen Pin Sights Challenge is all about reds.

e by e jan 2016 pinsights inspiration

I used the poinsettia image from the Mistletoe and Holly set to create a background in VersaFine Crimson Red and Satin Red (both embossed with clear embossing powder). I used the “day” part of “oh happy day” (Bold Blooms) and the “wishing you a wonderful” part of “wishing you a wonderful holiday season” (Mistletoe and Holly).

I am content with the final product – I think it would make a lovely card for a December birthday or wedding shower. Or even a nice Valentine, if the recipient is not fluent in floral classification.

Thanks for stopping by!

Supplies: Stamps – Essentials by Ellen, paper – Neenah Classic Crest Natural White, Stampin’ Up! Basic Black, Real Red, inks – VersaFine Crimson Red, Onyx Black, Satin Red, dies – Spellbinders, crystals – EK Success Swarovski Elements, embossing powders – Filigree Fine Art Powder clear, Ranger Liquid Platinum, organdy ribbon – Offray.
