Pink and Navy Birthday Card – Fusion Card Challenge {Pretty in Pink}

fusion 2 18 2016 pretty in pink birthday

Pink and navy is one of my favorite color combinations. Of course I had to participate with the Fusion Card Challenge {Pretty in Pink}!

Here is the inspiration for the challenge:

fusion 2 18 2016 pretty in pink

I followed the sketch, and only slightly modified the color palette.

I used an ink blending tool to apply the blue ink through a stencil. The pink flowers are stamped. Difficult to see, but I used my Scor-Pal to score two parallel lines across the bottom of the pink layer (one below the sentiment, one mostly hidden by the pink flower layer and die cut flowers) to match the lines on the sketch.

Supplies: Stamps – Essentials by Ellen, Papertrey Ink, paper – Gmund Royal, Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Recollections Silver Mirror, Stampin’ Up! Pixie Pink, inks – Stampin’ Up! Pixie Pink (retired), Tim Holtz/Ranger Distress Ink Blueprint Sketch, VersaFine Smokey Gray, die – Essentials by Ellen, stencil – Heidi Swapp, embossing powder – Stampin’ Up! Silver Detail Powder, metallic cord – PaperMart.

Woodgrain Sympathy Card – Fusion Card Challenge {Woodgrain Neutral}

fusion woodgrain neutral sympathy

The latest Fusion Card Challenge is titled {Woodgrain Neutral}.

Here is the inspiration photo:

fusion 1 21 2016 woodgrain neutral

I am (once again) trying to repopulate the sympathy card section in my card basket, and I was fretting about too many florals. Nothing horribly masculine in there. What about a woodgrain sympathy card? I have this beautiful woodgrain paper from Paper-Papers .

So, I inlaid a circle of cherry into birch, and added a sympathy sentiment. Basic. Stunning.

Supplies: Stamp – Stampin’ Up!, paper – Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Paper-Papers Wood Technology Birch, Cherry, Stampin’ Up! Basic Black, ink – VersaFine Onyx Black, dies – Spellbinders, embossing powder – Ranger Liquid Platinum.

Bright Blended Birthday Card – Fusion Card Challenge {Bright Butterflies}

fusion 6 18 2015 bright butterfly inspired birthday

A challenge! I made a card for a challenge! My creative flow has been really blocked the past few months – this is my first challenge in a while.

The latest Fusion Card Challenge {Bright Butterfly} had me at COLOR. Right in my wheelhouse. I ignored the sketch completely.

Here is the inspiration:

fusion 6 18 2015 Bright Butterfly

I blended distress inks over a stencil, then applied another coat over the entire panel after removing the stencil. After that dried, I added white embossed daisies. An embossed sentiment on a flag, a layer to match the flag, and a trio of enamel dots finished this off.

Thanks for stopping by!

Supplies: Stamps – A Muse Artstamps, Clearly Besotted, paper – Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Stampin’ Up! Tempting Turquoise, inks – Tim Holtz/Ranger Distress Inks Picked Raspberries, Seedless Preserves, Spiced Marmalade, VersaMark, stencil – Heidi Swapp, enamel dots – Stampin’ Up!, embossing powder – Filigree Fine Art Powder white.

Valentine’s Day Card – Fusion Challenge {Two Hearts}

fusion two hearts valentine chocolates Here is my take on the current Fusion Card Challenge {Two Hearts}. The faux chocolate candy hearts were inspired by Julie Ebersole (her blog is called Paper Truffles). I spent a fun 30 minutes going back through her blog (based on the date of my earliest rendition of the chocolate hearts), looking for her post showing this handmade embellishment. Her blog post from January 2011 is titled More Than Chocolate . Here is the dual inspiration for the challenge: fusion 1 15 2015 two hearts Thanks so much for stopping by!

Silver and Red Holiday Card – Fusion {Sparkly Christmas} Challenge

fusion sparkly christmas

Here is my entry for the latest Fusion Card Challenge {Sparkly Christmas}. I wound two colors of metallic cord around my hand to make a wreath. Perhaps I used a bit too much? I had to use stacks of three foam dimensionals to make the sentiment tall enough to fit over the twine! Definitely not a card to be mailed.

Think Snow Card – Fusion {embossed ombre} Challenge

fusion ombre think snow

I had every intention of using the inspiration photo AND the sketch for the Fusion {embossed ombre} Challenge. Really, I even took notes on what I wanted to do. (and Offspring3 thinks it is really funny that I keep writing “hombre” instead of “ombre”…too many years of Spanish class, ombre is French!) Executing my notes, I took a different direction.

Here is the challenge inspiration:

fusion embossed hombre 11 6 2014

I used a Heidi Swapp mini stencil to create the background. I embossed the “think snow” directly onto the background…and the embossing powder didn’t stick to all of the letters. RATS. I stamped it again on white cardstock and cut it with a speech bubble die. The acrylic snowflakes were in my hoard (and no identifying information).

I used one ink blending foam for this project, working the lighter color (Tumbled Glass) first. When I was done, I rinsed it out. All of the Distress Ink rinsed out completely, and the foam shows no signs of wear.

Thanks for stopping by!

I got an honorable mention from Stephanie for my card! Thanks, Stephanie!

Pink Birthday Card – Fusion {Shiny Pink} Challenge

fusion shiny pink birthday

I love anything titled “Shiny Pink”! The latest Fusion Card Challenge {Shiny Pink} is just that.

Here are the inspiration photo and sketch:

fusion Shiny Pink 9 11 2014

Last week, someone had asked for a “girlie girl” birthday card, and I didn’t have one in my basket. Now I do!

I die cut the butterfly, and then applied 2 coats of clear embossing powder to make it shiny pink. The white layer is glossy cardstock. The chevron paper is glitter paper. I embossed the greeting (hindsight – should have embossed in silver instead of gray).

Here is a close up of the shine:
