Dotted Birthday Card – Fusion Card Challenge {Bright Floral Celebration}

dotted birthday fusion 8 14 2014 bright celebration

The latest Fusion Card Challenge {Bright Floral Celebration} grabbed me by the hand, screaming, “you’ve got to play along with this one!” I love the color palette!

I chose to use dots instead of flowers…I have so many floral cards in my basket right now.

Here are the inspiration photo and sketch – and I played along with both:

Bokah Baby Card – Fusion Card Challenge {The Beach House}

fusion 7 31 beach house baby

Here is my second card for the current Fusion Card Challenge July 31st {The Beach House} . I made enough of the bokah background (yesterday’s card) to make 2 cards (if I only make enough of a background technique for one card, something invariably goes awry!). The colors definitely say “baby” to me, in addition to “beach house”!

Here is a close up with the white dots showing:

Bokah Thank You Card – Fusion Challenge “The Beach House”

fusion 7 31 beach bokah thanks

Today’s card is for the current Fusion Card Challenge July 31st {The Beach House} .

Perfect timing, I just returned from a beach vacation! A “Beach House” theme is right up my alley!

Monday morning, bright and early, I stumbled upon the WPLUS9 Blog post about a bokah technique. I had to try the bokah technique, and I was inspired by the blue and yellow of the Fusion Challenge photo. (Although, with the placement of my sentiment, and the polka dots in the bokah technique, I think I probably get credit for using both the photo and sketch inspiration…)

I did not use a stencil for my polka dots, I used Stampin’ Up!s Simply Circles stamp set (retired). The white dots are fairly subtle straight on, here is a side view:

Carnation Thinking of You Card – Make it Monday #173 & Fusion Challenge {French Cupcakes}

make it monday 173 carnation thinking

I made this card specifically for Papertrey Ink’s Make It Monday #173 – No Outline Watercolor, but when I checked out the lastest Fusion Challenge (July 17th) {French Cupcakes}, I felt it worked for that challenge as well.

I stamped my carnation in pale pink, then watercolored it using the same pale pink. The leaves were done the same way in green. The white space was then watercolored with Crumb Cake (it turned out rather vintage), and I added a gold mat and a gold embossed sentiment.

I bought this Papertrey Ink carnation stamp set when it was first released because I really love carnations (one of the very few flowers that doesn’t drive my allergies crazy). But I struggle using it, I never feel that I get the coloring right. I am relatively pleased with the way this version turned out.

Here is the Fusion inspiration – I’m totally about the photo (again!), not about the sketch.

Stenciled Birthday Card – Fusion Moxie Simon Challenges

fusion simon moxie birthday

I was working on this card for the current Fusion Challenge (#6), when two other challenges got posted. Moxie Fab World posted the Styling with Stencils Challenge, and Simon Wednesday Challenge posted the Glitter It Challenge.

Here is the Fusion sketch:

And, since SPRING officially arrived on Thursday, I felt these colors were perfect.

I placed the Spellbinders Impressabilities Diamonds and Stars over a piece of white cardstock and sponged Daffodil Delight and Crushed Curry inks over it. I used a Copic marker to make the green dots.

Here is a close up view of the photo frame covered in Wink of Stella, taken in the basement crafting cave (best way to get the glittery goodness to show up in a photo).

Fusion Challenge #4 – Butterfly Birthday Card

fusion 4 terrys birthday

This is my effort for the latest Fusion Card Challenge (#4). I used both the sketch and the photo as inspiration for this challenge.

I stamped, embossed and colored butterflies on a white panel. Backed it with designer paper from Alison Kraft/Webster’s Pages. Difficult to see, but I embossed an edge detail on the bottom of the Pool Party layer (click photo to enlarge).

Here is the Fusion inspiration:

Fusion#3 – Valentine Card

fusion 2 valentine

A few weeks ago, I found a new challenge blog, called Fusion Card Challenge.  They post 2 inspirations at a time…a photo and a layout sketch. You can participate by using either or both inspirations.

This card is for the Fusion #3 Challenge, and I used both the layout sketch and the inspiration photo (Valentine themed).

I die cut different size hearts out of white cardstock and out of Echo Park Yours Truly paper. I replaced the white cutouts with the Echo Park paper, added a few more punched hearts (the gray ones are covered with Glossy Accents), a few wooden hearts, and a few heart Twinkle stickers.

Here is the inspiration:
