Hippo Birthday To You Card

I love this hippo from Essentials by Ellen. The sentiment in the set is “hippo birdie to you”, as there is a bird in the stamp set. I was using the hippo alone, so I built my sentiment using my JustRite Times New Roman alphabet. The sentiment was cut twice with a stitched rectangle die to make the exact size rectangle I needed.

Supplies: Stamps – Essentials by Ellen, JustRite, paper – Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Stampin’ Up! Real Red, Tempting Turquoise, inks – Copic T1, T3, Tim Holtz/Ranger Distress Inks Tumbled Glass, Twisted Citron, VersaFine Onyx Black, Smokey Gray, VersaMark, dies – Essentials by Ellen (hippo, hat), Lawn Fawn (stitched rectangle), Taylored Expressions (balloon), stencil – Inky Antics, embossing powders – Filigree Fine Art Powder clear, Stampin’ Up! Iridescent Ice, floss – DMC.

New Home Card, Townhouse Version

While I had my Hero Arts house on my workspace, I made a “townhouse” version of a new home card.

Recently, Offspring3 and I went to the Kennedy Center to see the musical, “Chicago”. (thank you MUCHO, Offspring3!) We took the Metro (I don’t like driving in DC). The walk from the Foggy Bottom Metro station to the Kennedy Center was lovely. This row of houses was my inspiration for the card. Sorry about the wonky angle of the photo, I didn’t stop and square myself up directly across the street.

Supplies: Stamps – Hero Arts, JustRite, paper – Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Stampin’ Up! Bermuda Bay, Pool Party, inks – Stampin’ Up! Bermuda Bay, Pacific Point, Pool Party, Tempting Turquoise, die – Spellbinders, embossing powder – Filigree Fine Art Powder clear, metallic cord – PaperMart.

Way 2 Go Card

soberversary 2

I needed to make an encouragement/congratulations card for someone in my life who is celebrating two years of sobriety. So proud of how much work this person has done in those two years!

So, out came the cute little freckled elephant. This time, I colored with Copics and used some Glossy Accents to make the balloons slick and shiny.

Paint Chip and iTunes Card Valentine

itunes purple paint chip valentine

Offspring3 handed back the iTunes card that was a birthday gift (after applying it to account), and the stack of paint chips I snagged from the most recent trip to Home Depot (left on Offspring3’s desk as proof of “I was thinking about you” late in the fall), and said, “MAKE SOMETHING OUT OF THIS!”

So I did.

The items were repurposed into a Valentine’s Day card for Offspring3.

Who can say if I was drawn to the colors for ME or because I knew that Offspring3 would love them?

Supplies: Stamps – JustRite, paper – Apple iTunes card, Home Depot paint chip, Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Stampin’ Up! Basic Black, ink – Papertrey Ink Fresh Snow, corner rounder – Stampin’ Up!, sequins – Stampin’ Up!, embossing powder – Filigree Fine Art Powder white.

She’s a Brick….House Valentine’s Day Card

brick house valentine

I ordered this brick wall embossing folder (Stampin’ Up!) in the fall, and just never used it. Every time I look at it, I here the Commadores, circa 1977, singing, “She’s a brick…house…”

Instead of fighting that, I just went with it. I have a friend who will appreciate the musical reference when I mail it to her for Valentine’s Day.

And then, a few days later, I had the light bulb moment that I had brick scrapbooking paper…LEGO bricks! (Good thing I stamped an extra sentiment last time!)
