Bright Hexagon Birthday Card

sss 8 29 14 color challenge

Last week, the Simon Says Stamp blog posted a Color Coordinates recipe that struck my fancy.

And, really, this summer I can’t say the word “fancy” without singing along. “I’m so fancy, you already know, I’m in the fast lane from LA to Tokyo.” (why YES, I did just quote Iggy Azalea. Offspring3 keeps my music current!)

But I digress! Back to the card!

Here is the Color Coordinates recipe:

Embossed Lace Sympathy Card – Runway Inspired Challenge ric#65

The latest Runway Inspired Challenge (ric#65) is here!

Here is the inspiration look, from Louis Vuitton Resort 2015:

I was inspired by the lace blouse, and the colors. I embossed in white on cream cardstock. I cut a doily out of Night of Navy cardstock, then cut a rectangle tag out of the doily to make the layer behind the sentiment. I did debate adding crystals or enamel dots, but thought it was better left unembellished.

I can’t think of Louis Vuitton without thinking of the movie “Leap Year” – Anna (Amy Adams) had a Louis Vuitton suitcase, and Declan (Matthew Goode) called it “Louis”. I can’t find my favorite clip about the suitcase, but this one will do just fine.

(sorry, WordPress was not allowing me to embed the video as I was preparing this post!)

Supplies: Stamps – Papertrey Ink, Stampin’ Up!, paper – Neenah Natural White, Stampin’ Up! Barely Banana (retired), Night of Navy, inks – Papertrey Ink Fresh Snow, VersaFine Onyx Black, dies – Lifestyle Crafts (doily), Spellbinders (rectangle), embossing powder – Filigree Fine Art Powder clear, white, organdy ribbon – JoAnn’s.

Happy belated Administrative Professionals Day! I try to not post cards before they are presented, I don’t want to spoil the surprise.

Happy Valentine’s Day 2014

happy valentines 2014

Or Happy Singles Awareness Day…whichever you celebrate.

Valentine’s Day was more fun when the Offspring were little. Now, MEH.

We got to use the new snow shovels yesterday – hubby and I cleared 12 – 14 inches of snow (plus rain that weighed it down) off the driveway & sidewalk. And there was more snow overnight (dark as I post this – I can’t tell how much yet), so the shovels will get used again today.

Supplies:  Stamp – Stampin’ Up!, paper – Papertrey Ink White, Stampin’ Up! Orchid Opulence (retired), Pixie Pink (retired), Real Red, inks – Stampin’ Up! Orchid Opulence (retired), dies – Lifestyle Crafts (doily), Reverse Confetti (arrow), Spellbinders (heart), sequins – Lawn Fawn, organdy ribbon – JoAnn’s.
