Happy Anniversary Paint Chip Card

I gave this to my parents for their recent anniversary. 62 years – WOW!

Odd design, I know. I leaned back into the “Baltimore sports colors” idea again. I was deciding between this orange paint chip and a purple one. Then I noticed this:

The second color stripe from the top was named “Orioles”. As in Baltimore Orioles (baseball team, for anyone not into American sports). PERFECT!

My parents got married while my Dad was in the Air Force (stationed in New York, at the end of his stint). He got a weekend pass, came back home to Baltimore, they got married on Friday night, went to a Baltimore Orioles game on Saturday.

Supplies: Stamp – Rubber Stampede, paper – Home Depot paint chip, Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Stampin’ Up! Lovely Lilac (retired), ink – Hero Arts Unicorn, die – My Favorite Things, embossing powder – Filigree Fine Art Powder white.

Lighthouse Paint Chip Anniversary Card

I went to Lowe’s last week, in search of Stainless Steel appliance cleaner/polish. Of course I brought paint chips home with me. The paint chips sat on top of my paper cutter, next to the computer for a few days. Husband asks, “are you going to paint something?” Wife answers, “no, I use them in my crafting.” Husband grumbles, “you use them crafting???”

(I went looking back in my card photos – I started stamping in the fall of 2002, and I have been using paint chips since at least mid 2005. Granted, Husband does not see everything card or project I make.)

So, of course, I had to use a paint chip on the anniversary card for aforementioned Husband.

The paint chip is a LARGE one, 3.75 x 9 inches. I trimmed off 1/4 inch both ways to make it fit my T-A-L-L card (finished size 4 x 9.25 inches…it fits into a business size A10 envelope).

Supplies: Stamps – Avery Elle, Stampin’ Up!, paper – Lowe’s paint chip, Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Papertrey Ink Kraft, Stampin’ Up! Real Red, Smoky Slate, inks – Copic Boo, R24, R29, VersaFine Onyx Black, dies – Avery Elle (lighthouse, seagulls), Memory Box (clouds), Simon Says Stamp (banner), embossing powder – Filigree Fine Art Powder clear.

Stowaway Cards

Offspring3 went to Spain for 5 weeks this summer for a study abroad program.

#missedher

Of course I stashed some cards in her suitcase. For the times that Skype and Facebook messaging were not quite tactile enough.

Most of the cards contain an image or paper that she has gifted me.

Working on a set of notecards (this is the last one). Struggling creatively. I decided on the scrap of Basic Grey for the coffee cup first (an OLD scrap!). Then, the idea of a paint chip in the background smacked me in the head. My paint chips can always pull me through!

Cheshire Cat Paint Chip Card

cheshire-cat-paint-chip

I was searching for the PERFECT stamp set of cats/kittens over the weekend. I think I have my choices narrowed down, almost ready to buy. But I wanted to stamp a cat NOW. So, I dug through Offspring3’s stash of crafting supplies for the Cheshire Cat.

I have actually been inside of Home Depot 3 times in the last week – and only grabbed paint chips one of those visits. We are starting the process of redoing the kitchen, so I will be a frequent visitor to Home Depot and Lowe’s for the next month or two.

Supplies: Stamp – Her Majesty (The Queen’s Ink), paper – Behr (Home Depot) paint chip, Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Stampin’ Up! Smoky Slate, ink – Tim Holtz/Ranger Distress Ink Tumbled Glass, VersaFine Onyx Black, dies – Spellbinders (circles), Taylored Expressions (banner), embossing powder – Filigree Fine Art Powder clear.

Paint Chip Gift Tags

Oh, come on, you had to see this one coming from a mile away!

I used paint chips, sample paper, and dies.

I order envelopes and paper from a company called Paper-Papers. With every order, you get a random sample pack of scraps. I LOVE THIS! Would I really order a pack of 25 sheets of all of the colors? No. But the scraps are great for accents and projects like this. Paper-Papers even puts a label listing the contents on the sample pack, so you know what you are using.
