Daisies on Navy Birthday Card

TGIF!!! So glad Friday got here – it has been a long week. Not really sure WHY it has been a long week?? I did lose one day (spent it on the couch in the basement, so I could tend to the laundry machines without much movement!) to side effects from a Shingles vaccine. And I spent yesterday (which is my normal cleaning day) amazed at how much dust & grime had accumulated over the holidays (I didn’t have a regular cleaning day – I did a few freshen up things, vacuumed a few times). OH.MY.GOODNESS.

I used this bunch of daisies earlier this week, as traditional white daisies. But all along, I saw them on dark cardstock. With colored pencils.

Again, I am not sure if the sentiment strip. Maybe change it to pink with silver embossing?

Have a good weekend!

Supplies:  Stamps – Newton’s Nook, Papertrey Ink, paper – Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, PopTone RazzleBerry, Stampin’ Up! Night of Navy, Stardream Metallics Silver, ink – VersaMark, colored pencils – Prismacolor, dies – Lawn Fawn (stitched rectangle), Taylored Expressions (banner), embossing powder – Stampin’ Up! Small Square Blue Daisy Birthday Card

I had this blue daisy die cut left from earlier this week. I embossed the flower detail onto the die cut, then added some color with Prismacolor pencils. It is a small square card (4.25 x 4.25 inches) because I wanted the flower to fill the front of the card.

Supplies:  Stamps – Essentials by Ellen, Papertrey Ink, paper – Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Desert Storm, Stampin’ Up! Bashful Blue (retired) Marina Mist (retired), inks – VersaFine Onyx Black, VersaMark, pencils -Prismacolor Apple Green (PC912), Light Cerulean Blue (PC904), Poppy Red (PC922), die – Essentials by Ellen, embossing powder – Stampendous Detail clear, Stampin’ Up! Sterling Silver.

Floral Anniversary Card

I had this image to color, but I didn’t have the Copic colors to match the vision in my head. Luckily, I could make it work with colored pencils.

This card is a little different than most of my “circle main image” cards. This one, I cut the circle hole into the layer of purple, so the image is behind the purple instead of resting on top. The silver frame is on top of the purple.

Supplies: Stamps – Altenew, Paper Salon, paper – Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Stardream Metallics Silver, Taylored Expressions Jelly Donut, ink – VersaFine Onyx Black, pencils & blender – Prismacolor, dies – Spellbinders, embossing powders – Filigree Fine Art Powder clear, Ranger Silver Pearl.

Sending You Sunshine Note Card

Here is another note card using the Waffle Flower stamp set called Little Sunshine.

I stamped in VersaFine, heat embossed with clear powder, and colored the image using Prismacolor pencils.

Mom Update:  Mom is recuperating at home, she got released on Thursday. The procedure and the hospital stay have really wiped her out. Lots of naps are happening. My Dad is struggling with his Nurse Ratched duties. I am visiting daily to check on both of them (they live 4 miles away, very convenient).

Supplies: Stamp – Waffle Flower, paper – Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Stampin’ Up! Close to Cocoa (retired), Daffodil Delight, ink – VersaFine Vintage Sepia, pencils – Prismacolor, embossing powder – Filigree Fine Art Powder clear, twine – Martha Stewart.

Thinking of You Sailboat Note Card

I was going for calm with this. I decided to try stamping the sailboat on pale blue cardstock. The sea was colored with Copics, the sails with a Prismacolor white pencil. I really love the way it turned out!

Supplies: Stamps – Papertrey Ink, Stampin’ Up!, paper – Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Papertrey Ink Kraft, Stampin’ Up! Soft Sky, inks – Copic B00, B02, BG10, BG15, VersaFine Onyx Black, colored pencil – Prismacolor, die – Spellbinders, embossing powder – Ranger clear.

Purple Floral on Kraft Birthday Card

I have seen several artists posting cards colored with colored pencils on kraft cardstock recently. I decided to give it a try. I have never tried to blend colored pencils (for this I used Prismacolor pencils) before, and it was really easy to do (and, BONUS! you can erase if you go outside the lines!).

Supplies: Stamps – Altenew, Papertrey Ink, paper – Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Papertrey Ink Kraft, Royal Velvet, inks – VersaFine Onyx Black, VersaMark, pencils – Prismacolor, dies – Lawn Fawn, embossing powders – Filigree Fine Art Powder clear, Stampendous Gold Detail, metallic cord – Paper Mart.

Hot Dog Dachshund Note Card

wiener dog hot dog note

I got Lawn Fawn’s “Critters at the Dog Park” stamp set from Offspring2 on Christmas, and I couldn’t wait to ink it up. I decided on a single layer note card.

I embossed the dog and sentiment, then colored with Prismacolor pencil and blended with gamsol. The grass was stamped after everything else was cool & dry.

Wiener dogs running with ears flopping is just such a happy sight!

Supplies: Stamps – Lawn Fawn, paper – Papertrey Ink White, inks – Copic Multiliner, Stampin’ Up! Wild Wasabi, VersaFine Onyx Black, pencils – Prismacolor PC945 Sienna Brown, embossing powder – Filigree Fine Art Powder clear , twine – Martha Stewart.

Christmas Shiba Card

xmas 2014 J

I think I have mentioned before, Offspring2 and I share all things Shiba Inu related. (I have too many allergies, we cannot have any animals (furry, hairless, or hypo allergenic!), reptiles, feathered things in the house.)

I finally splurged and bought Lawn Fawn’s “Into The Woods” stamp set (and matching dies), because the fox image reminds me of a Shiba. I colored the image with my Prismacolor pencils and blended with gamsol. Then, I die cut the image and mounted it on a tag with some silver snowflakes.

So, I finished my cookie baking yesterday, and made a HUGE batch of Nuts & Bolts (cereal snack mix).

nuts and bolts 2014

My recipe for Nuts & Bolts comes from Spouse’s Aunt, who claims it she got the recipe from a childhood friend. No measuring involved, the recipe calls for whole boxes of cereal, whole bag of pretzels, whole pound of nuts. The recipe was written back in the 1960’s, when cereal only came in one size box (not 3 or 4 choices per cereal). I am a bargain hunter, so I bought the biggest boxes of each variety when they were on sale in my local Target. I wound up with 2 roasting pans full of Nuts & Bolts! I looked online for the recipe, and none are quite our recipe. The closest recipe I found is here:  Once Upon a Chef, Nuts n’ Bolts recipe .

Supplies: Stamps- A Muse Artstamps, Lawn Fawn, paper – Lawn Fawn Snow Day, Papertrey Ink White, Recollections Silver Mirror, Stampin’ Up! Real Red, inks – VersaFine Onyx Black, pencils – Prismacolor PC914 (cream), PC941 (light brown), PC943 (burnt umber), PC1034 (goldenrod), dies – Impression Obsession (snowflakes), Lawn Fawn (tag, fox), My Favorite Things (snowflake), Stampin’ Up! (banner), embossing powder – Ranger Liquid Platinum, twine – We R Memory Keepers.
