Foliage Birthday Card – Runway Inspired Challenge ric#96

ric96 birthday

I found time over the weekend to create something for the latest Runway Inspired Challenge (ric#96).

Here is the inspiration look by Banana Republic:

I was inspired by the colors, and struggled to find an image in my collection. I ultimately settled on a retired Stampin’ Up! set  (Two Step Stampin’ Shapes and Shadows) that had two leaves (solid and outline). The coverage on the embossed outline of the leaves is a little spotty (because I stamped all the outlines before pouring embossing powder), but I think that plays well with the Distress Ink images.

Supplies: Stamps – Clearly Besotted, Stampin’ Up!, paper – Papertrey Ink Vintage Cream, Stampin’ Up! Tempting Turquoise, inks – Tim Holtz/Ranger Distress Inks Hickory Smoke, Salty Ocean, Seedless Preserves, VersaFine Smokey Gray, embossing powder – Ranger Liquid Platinum.

Wedding Wishes Card – Runway Inspired Challenge ric#94

ric94 wedding

The latest Runway Inspired Challenge (ric#94) is based on the inspiration from Houghton Bridal.

The lace was my inspiration.

I die cut flowers and leaves from Shimmery White cardstock with the Bold Blooms dies (stand alone), and glued them individually onto white cardstock.

Here is my lace background:

handmade e by e lace background

I attached the lace background to a top fold card, and added a sentiment (platinum embossed on black).

Edited 11/3/2015: My card got selected as one of the Fabulous Fashionistas for the challenge. Thanks to the Runway team!

Supplies: Stamp – Paper Salon, paper – Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Stampin’ Up! Basic Black, Shimmery White, ink – VersaFine Smoky Gray, dies – Essentials by Ellen, embossing powder – Ranger Liquid Platinum.

Birthday Cake Card – Runway Inspired Challenge ric#93

ric93 birthday cake

Down to the wire on this one! Second post of the day (because I was not sure I would create the card!).

I love the outfit (dress? separates? not sure!) that the Runway Inspired Challenge blog posted for ric#93.

The stripes have been in my brain for a week. “I need to do stripes.” I tried to make a background of closely spaced sentiments in the stripe colors…that worked until my Summer Starfruit marker didn’t work on the clear stamp I was trying to use. Circular file fodder. I thought about doing stripy clusters of flowers…nah.

Cake layers…yes…yes…I can do that! I watercolored a background with Distress Inks. The cake was embossed and then colored with a blender pen – but I didn’t blend the colors well, I wanted edges on the colors. A bit Wink of Stella on the top of the cake. The candles were embossed, then colored with Copics. (and I trimmed them more so that the white edge of the die cut would not block the top of the cake)

Here is the inspiration (by Emilio de la Morena):

Painted Leaves Thank You Card – Pin-Sights September 2015 Challenge and Runway Inspired Challenge ric#92

e by e sept 2015 pinsights and ric92

This week, I combined the Essentials by Ellen September 2015 Pin-Sights Challenge with the Runway Inspired Challenge ric#92.

I print challenge inspirations out and post them on a cork board by my workspace. Not that I find the time to participate in all of the challenges, but it gives me something to aim for!

Here is my current challenge printout:

weekly inspiration printout

The Pinsights challenge and Runway challenge (both on the left of my printout) overlapped on color palettes, and I just visualized them as one card.

I stamped the sentiment and the leaves in VersaMark, and embossed them with Navy embossing powder. I stamped my distress ink pads onto an old data CD and used an aquabrush to paint the colors into the leaf sections.

Here is the Pin-Sights mood board:

Gold Mirror Wedding Card – Runway Inspired Challenge ric#82

ric82 gold mirror anniversary

I loved the latest inspiration for the Runway Inspired Challenge ric#82 . Elegant.

I didn’t bust out any new ideas or techniques, just stayed elegant and classic. I embossed the gold mirror paper with an embossing folder, and was very happy that the embossing did not crack the paper or the finish.

Here is the inspiration look by Naeem Khan:

Hibiscus Birthday Card – Runway Inspired Challenge ric#76

ric76 hibiscus birthday

Here is my take on the current Runway Inspired Challenge, ric#76.

The inspiration was from the Spring 2015 collection of Craven.

ric76 carven

I was inspired by the colors in the blocks on the jacket and purse, and the black line on the buttery runway. I stamped the flowers on watercolor paper, and added a tiny ditz trio with the Copic Multiliner. I like the background I stamped, I liked how it looked cut in half, mounted on the black paper.

Then, I will admit, I got a little lost. I added the sentiment, mounted on a red layer to look a bit like a buckle across the two floral pieces. I am not sure if I like the red accent now that I have it all glued together.

Thanks for stopping by!

Supplies: Stamps – Papertrey Ink, Stampin’ Up!, paper – Canson watercolor, Papertrey Ink Vintage Cream, Stampin’ Up! Basic Black, Pool Party, Real Red, inks – Copic Multiliner, Tim Holtz Distress Chipped Sapphire, Peacock Feathers, Salty Ocean, Spiced Marmalade, Tumbled Glass, VersaFine Onyx Black, die – Spellbinders, embossing powder – Filigree Fine Art Powder clear.

Watercolor Encouragement Card – Runway Inspired Challenge ric#75

ric75 watercolor moment to smile

This card is inspired by the latest Runway Inspired Challenge (ric#75).

I created this card as a back up to yesterday’s tulle window shaker card – just in case execution with tulle went horribly wrong.

I watercolored in pink, let it dry, then embossed on top. Mounted the piece on a top fold watercolor card.

Here is the inspiration piece, from the Ralph Lauren Spring 2015 collection:

Supplies: Stamps – A Muse Artstamps, Hero Arts, paper – Canson watercolor, inks – VersaFine Onyx Black, VersaMark, watercolor – Kuretake, embossing powders – Filigree Fine Art Powder clear, Stampin’ Up! Sterling Silver.

Valentine Shaker Card – Runway Inspired Challenge ric#75

ric75 tulle shaker valentine

So, my original vision for the latest Runway Inspired Challenge (ric#75), was to make a photo frame into a shaker card using tulle instead of plastic film. I ended up ditching the die cut frame after 3 unsuccessful attempts.

And, yes, I actually had hot pink tulle in my house. (left over from wedding favor project circa 2004 or 2005?) Doesn’t everybody?   đŸ˜‰

Here is a close up of the tulle window:

ric75 tulle shaker valentine close up

Definitely a card that will need to be hand delivered – a tulle window is not sturdy enough to mail.

The inspiration for this challenge was from the Ralph Lauren Spring 2015 collection:
