Paper and Ink Imaginings

just playing with paper and ink

Using the solid rectangle stamp helped me avoid coloring or blending the background.

I received this adorable Waffle Flower stamp set (titled Hola Mexico) as part of a Christmas gift from Offspring3, and this is the first time I have inked it. This turned out exactly as I imagined in my head.

A Little Birdie Told Me Card

I love the art of this stamp (I have several by this designer), but I struggle with how to use it. BUT I LOVE IT.

For this card, I mounted the stamp on my MISTI, and stamped the individual distress inks to make an ombre image. When it was dry, I overstamped in VersaMark and added regular (not detail fine) embossing powder to give the image a higher, glossy loft.

Supplies:  Stamps – Waffle Flower, paper – Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Stampin’ Up! Bermuda Bay, inks – Tim Holtz/Ranger Distress Inks Blueprint Sketch, Mermaid Lagoon, Peacock Feathers, VersaFine Onyx Black, VersaMark, embossing powder – Stampendous Detail Clear, Stampin’ Up! Crystal Clear, organdy ribbon – Offray.

Don’t Forget to Be Awesome Card

We’ve had a few really beautiful sunrises in the last week. I was inspired by the quickly shifting colors for this card.

The background stamp (Stampin’ Up! Paisley – retired) is wood mounted, and I didn’t quite get perfect coverage. I stamped the sentiment directly on the inked background – why block more of the color than necessary?

Here is the progression of Monday’s sunrise:

Some of the photos were taken from the kitchen, some from the bedroom directly above the kitchen. The first photo was taken at 6:55am, the last at 7:36am.

Supplies:  Stamps – Stampin’ Up!, Waffle Flower, paper – Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Stampin’ Up! Basic Black, inks – Tim Holtz/Ranger Distress Inks Abandoned Coral, Picked Raspberry, Ripe Persimmon, Squeezed Lemonade, VersaFine Onyx Black, jewels – Swarovski AB, embossing powder – Stampendous Detail clear, organdy ribbon – Offray.

You Are My Anchor Card

Recently, Simon Says Stamp was giving away the Gina K. Designs mini wreath builder template and stamp set with ANY order. So, I went scouring for a mini stamp set and die (less than $10 total). I wound up with this Waffle Flower set (I already own multiple anchor stamps/dies, but no sentiments that coordinate with an anchor). Great! AND I dug up a $5 coupon, which helped with shipping.

I blended distress inks over a stencil onto Strathmore Bristol paper – so smooth for blending.

Supplies: Stamps – Waffle Flower, paper – Curious Metallics Shadow, Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Stampin’ Up! Bermuda Bay, Strathmore Bristol, inks – Tim Holtz/Ranger Distress Inks Blueprint Sketch, Peacock Feathers, Salty Ocean, VersaFine Onyx Black, dies – My Favorite Things (pierced rectangle), Waffle Flower (anchor), stencil – Simon Says Stamp, embossing powder – Stampendous Detail clear, floss – DMC.
