This week’s Papertrey Ink Make It Monday (#180) is about paper weaving.
I chose a piece of double sided Allison Kreft/Webster’s Pages paper, and cut fringe (connected just at the top) into the paper (rather than cutting strips and trying to reassemble the entire thing), and then wove strips of solid color cardstock through the patterned strips. I didn’t expect to like both sides of the finished weaving, but I did. (surprise!) I die cut a tag and a mat out of the two sides and made two different projects from it.
Here is the weaving:

And the two die cut pieces:

To hold the weaving together, I covered 2 pieces of 3 x 6″ lightweight cardstock with sticky tape, and mounted one on each side of woven piece. Then, I die cut – multiple times, it was really thick! The multiple passes through the die cut machine flattened the texture out a bit, and gave the pieces a slightly burnished look.
Thanks for stopping by!
